Public Comments
Resident wants us to focus on public transit as much as possible. Also clean, reliable power. Also really loves repurposing buildings. Sheilah on KZYX program "Back to the Landers" @ 7:45, 8:45, and 3:30. Sheilah: Cliff will be here next month. We will discuss the Community Plan. We should be getting the word out to come to the February meeting where we will be talking about the draft. Getting a plan together for our next community meeting. Get the high school involved...and maybe some Boy Scouts. Will talk more on the agenda item.
- CDBG-Disaster Recovery Funds and Survey. Emily Tecchio, Field Representative, Assemblyman Jim Wood: Community Development Block Grant (CDBG). Federal funds coming from HUD to HCD (state organization) and working on how will be distributed. $124 Million. Meant to serve all affected by 2017 disasters across the state. RV is part of the most distressed areas, along with many other communities across a lot of California. $ to help most vulnerable people in the community. Who will receive the $? HCD submitted draft to HUD, could take 60-90 days. But HUD needs to be funded and restaffed. There will be a survey going out- hopefully all affected will fill out the survey. HUD is using FEMA data. $ cannot be used to reimburse. Clear restrictions are who is eligible. You need to own your home, occupied during the fire, and have a certain (low) income. Jon Kennedy (with NCO): NCO probably has the best data. MAC needs to get the word out as best we can. HCD says that they want to work with the MAC. Bills that passed at the state: SB833: Emergency Alerts SB901: All utilities need to make a disaster mitigation plan SB894: Renews policies after a claim is made AB something: 36 months to collect costs AB1797: Insurer must let insured know how much it would cost to replace home to current standards AB1800: extends coverage if you move Another one: Internet tool helps to compare rates. On the floor, presented by Jim Wood AB38: creates comm fire prep council MAC can always write a letter of support. We can always contact Jim's local office. Nash Gonzalez (with the County): 5 fire camera installations by February. Mounted on the county's microwave towers. Who will monitor? Sheriff or Howard Forest. Lots of logistics. County submitted a CalOES grant application for cameras and sirens. Defensible space assistance programs, hazardous fuel reduction. Mendocino County Communication facilities resilience. Secured $8M- going to water infrastructure. Chasing $25M in grants. BOS approved an engineering contract for the... RV water improvement? Chris: Friday's Chronicle- showed that under ground utilities would ultimately be most cost effective. Rate payor's would pay for it. PG&E has a responsibility on the Van Arsedale project and can't just sell it. PG&E is trying to move the project along quickly. Mendo IWPC website might have some info. Meeting tomorrow at 6pm.
- Finishing the new RV Community Plan together, with Cliff Paulin, Consultant for the MAC. March 14th meeting planned. Cassie: press release pro. Need to get the word out by the 20th of Feb. Marybeth, Katrina, and Sandra: Outreach and food.
- Planning and Building Services Report. Alex, Debra, and Cassie. Subdivision on Road D? Alex will look into.
- Succession Planning for RVMAC. Some of our terms expire this year in June, some expire the following June. MB will put the word out, we will put up on the website. Who might also like to be the chair? And switching the officers roles. We need to encourage people to apply. We probably should have bylaws.
- Officers, members, and ad hoc committee reports. Laminated fire maps: $200 The Grange charges $40/meeting. Website bill Alex renewed the PO Box, there is a bill for that also. Cassie: 4 Dollar Generals Lake County currently, and some are fighting the 5th one that wants to come in. Lake County seems to have more authority. Middletown turned down one. Sheilah: City of Ukiah is doing a Community Prep Planning. Jan 24th. Tbartolomie@cityofukiah.com (not sure about that!) Not just a meeting, it is a training. Katrina: Every year on Jan 1, the MAC gets $2500. We also have the $1000 we received from the community foundation- we haven't received it yet. Katrina says we should spend $3000 before June. We could pay the Grange more. Web design assistance, mailing list assistance. Stationary. We need marketing help. We don't have a facebook page! Marybeth will make the facebook page! Jendi Coursey Sandra: make a binder with all documents- Marybeth volunteered!
