  3. Public Comments

Dee (from Fischer Lake Drive): The new normal- how to defense your homestead. Sonoma County: the plan that changed everything: Sonoma County General Plan. Nash Gonzales (County Building and Planning Services Director): Applying for CalOES grant that would allow to amend the 'safety element' of the General Plan. Hazard mitigation plan into the safety element. Will have an opportunity for the MAC and the public to provide input. Lessons learned from the fire+ multi hazard. Time frame? Earliest mid 2019. Will there be risk assessment? Safety doesn't do that. Hazardous Mitigation plan does. Safety gives it more teeth. Create ordinances from there? And policy? Hazardous Mitigation plan is updated every 5 years. Is there some opportunity here for Design Review Processes? Chris-- put this on agenda for next month! And how to spend $10,000. Cal Fire- ability to pull out dead trees on public land. Kirsten: Hazardous Fuel Reduction as part of the report. Jim Caruso: Middle Terrace resident, near the old RV school. Heard that the School District is shopping around for what to do at the school site. Could affect the neighborhood. Talk of low income housing. The School District is going through a Constraints Analysis. What can you do what can't you do. Looking at Hopland also. They have hired an analysis company. Looking at housing. Would need to do a rezoning, general plan amendment. Call the School District for more info and how to stay involved. Attend the next SD meeting. Mariah Delarden: Two way radio- boosted up Walkie Talkie. Reach up to 7 miles. 40 radios on Greenfield Ranch. These will work when the power is off. Point Reyes Disaster Council for more info. They have 500 of these in West Marin. The radio stations have them as well. This was set up after the 2008 Lightning Fire Complex. Robo Calling: "Call Them All" Jini: 36 people from a Rehab Center that was evacuated. So, we need to keep this building alive. Why not do a Go Fund me for the Grange roof? Carol Rosero: Neighborhood committees. They don't have to listen to us. We need to make it so that they do.

  4. Mendocino Complex Fire Update

Emergency updates- get on the Sheriff's list. Nixle: get signed in. 888777 MendoAlerts you will automatically get alerts. (If you text your zip code then that might work also.) Fire Cause Rumors: Ranch Fire: Blacksmithing? Pounding a stake. Suspicion of arson. Vichy Fire: Rumors of arson. Jini carries a fire extinguisher in her car and helped put out a fire. Kirstin: Danila Sands: Set up an Amazon Wishlist. Right over here on the corner. Mariah carries some water, a mcloud, and hand saw.

  5. Redwood Valley Community Plan Cliff is not here. The crucial need is to get our Community Plan updated and to get it into the General Plan. Nash: Start with community plan. In that plan emphasize the need for Design Guidelines. And then work on the Design Guidelines. Deadline to make comment on the Work Plan is in 2 days. Mary Beth: Why the hurry? Nash: The purpose is to get this out the sooner the better. Looking for grants. It is a workplan for what we would like to accomplish. Tells us what the to-do list is. The County doesn't want to miss out on grant money. Rolling grant money. Deadline is September 4th. Wick is going to ask for an extension til Monday. Nash will bring this info back the Board
  6. Grant Application by County Fish and Wildlife — Kristen Ohlsen Kristen Olson- Went to the Dept. of Transportation, DOT, this proposal was already in the works. DOT is applying for planning, environmental review, permit processing, and design. June 13th application submitted. $1.8 Million Grant application to the State of California Fish and Wildlife. For 4 of the 8 creek crossings. This is money to Cal Fish and Wildlife. To do the upfront planning. Tomki dirt road is running right alongside Cave Creek. The county has put in one creek crossing already. What can the MAC do? While these crossings were not directly impacted negatively by the fire, they were impacted by all the cars that drove on the road. It doesn't hurt to get letters from the community. It is the only access route. Ask the Fish and Wildlife Offices- Daniel Harrington. Get an email from the MAC, why it is so important. Walk them with Alex, the engineer. The people at Fish and wildlife familiar with Cave Creek have retired. Also, cars and quads using this road can be really disruptive to the fish bearing streams. By law, public road that go over land that the salmon use must be protected for the fish. Resource Conservation District-- they might know what to do. Important to link to the fish and the wildlife. Nash will be sending a representative to future RVMAC meeting. Project Champions-- people in the community. That would be Kristen. Course of Action: Ad Hoc Committee: Kristin, Katrina, and Cassie. Kirsten. Talk to folks, look at deadlines, draft a letter for the MAC. Need supporting letters to Daniel Harrington. Lobby and advocate to him.

Positive: Leaky system repairs. 70 people, full time employees, with benefits.

  8. Fire Memorial

MB: Bob Rogers, from the South Ukiah Rotary Club, wants to donate a big boulder to make a plaque for the victims. The location: (a few choices) 1. Mariposa Swimming Hole (a county park!) kinda out of the way, not central 2. Lion's Park (also a County Park). There already is a boulder. (Marybeth's pick) 3. The Grange. The mosaic mural will be installed on the front wall of the Grange before October. Executive Office- Steve Dunicliff is the one we need to talk to. Deadline for verbage and input? Next week.
