During the meeting two committees were formed one of which he will be on the LAFCo budget committee and Mayor Powers will be on the CALAFCO (California Association of Local Agency Formation Commissions) board reorganization committee. He also stated that LAFCo will be doing MSR (Municipal Service Review) on all the fire departments in the county this year. He also met with local attorney Linda Judge regarding the property above the old landfill and her desire to use this land for a regional park and that the City of Portola should be involved in any potential projects with regards to this property.

Councilmember Morton attended the transportation meeting in January and also the LAFCo meeting on Monday, February 9th.
Mayor Pro Tem Battaglia attended the Firewise meeting on January 21st. During the meeting it was decided that there will be a community clean up day in June to coincide with the air districts green waste event. A specific date for the clean up day has not been determined. She also attended the Plumas County Integrated Waste Management task force on January 26th. Most of the discussion was focused on the Air Curtain incinerator that Intermountain disposal has on loan from Cal Fire under a pilot program.
