Bylaws Revision: Coast MAC bylaws revisions were approved by the MAC at the August 2023 meeting. Subsequently an Ad Hoc Committee was formed to revisit how term limits are addressed. The Ad Hoc met and after thoughtful discussion recommended that the Coast MAC bylaws not require term limits. This is due to the fairly low population in the area and a concern for a potential inability to fill seats.

Discussion on AT&T's Petition to CPUC for Relief from Carrier of Last Resort (COLR) Obligations in Specific Areas of California
Discussion
Possible Action
AT&T has applied to the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) with a request to be excused from its Carrier of Last Resort (COLR) duties in specific parts of California. If this request is granted, AT&T's landline service (distinct from its cellular offerings) would no longer have to provide the Basic Service landline telephone service it's currently obligated to offer in those regions. This matter is of particular concern in areas covered by the Coast MAC, where landline service often serves as the only means of communication. The potential impact on Frontier Communications, which provides service to the rest of the Coast MAC boundaries, also warrants attention. The Coast MAC will consider a response to AT&T's petition.
