  1. Call to Order
    The meeting was called to order at 11:03 am by Chairman Jerry Buzzard.

    Trustee Erin Gardiner motioned to approve. Trustee Gary Mirata seconded the motion.

    The motion passed with the following vote:

  4. Correspondence

      All Public Cemetery Alliance conferences/trainings will be free for all members in 2025.

      The Public Cemetery Alliance/California Association of Public Cemeteries and Golden State Risk Management are collaborating to host an Ethics and Harrassment training via zoom/video conferencing.

    1. Financial statements presented for February 2025

    2. New public cemetery laws in 2025

      Kornegay presented a list of new laws for public agencies for 2025: Public officials may not block commenters from social media accounts, Districts must present the status of job vacancies at least once a year at a public meeting, FMLA & CFRA; employers can no longer make employees use their vacation leave, PFL & SDI may be applied for up to 30 days before leave begins, public employees retirement funds can now be sent to a trust vs an individual, employers can not mandate employees to have a drivers license unless their specific job requires one.

    3. Report on California Association of Public Cemeteries conference 

      Kornegay and Perry attended the CAPC conference. Public Agencies are required to be Level 1 ADA compliant which includes their websites, public cemetery districts are allowed to build a new mausoleum if they currently have one.  They are grandfathered in. Kornegay and Perry had harassment training. 

    4. Trustees to complete Form 700 - Statement of Economic Interest

  6. Investment Committee Report 

    The Stifel investment reports were presented to the Board for February 2025. The balance in the Stifel Endowment account as of January is $2,271,500.81, balance in the Stifel Endowment Interest account is $126,820.73 and the balance in the Stifel Capital Projects account is $1,077,377.64 of which 287,377.64 is in the smart rate account.  The interest rate of the smart rate account is 3.85%.

  7. Grounds Foreman's Monthly Report
    1. Burials for month and year to date

      Grounds Foreman Cooper reported that year to date burials are 6 full and 9 ash for a total of 15 burials. 2024 year to date burials were 10 full and 14 ash for a total of 24 burials.

    2. Grounds maintenance

      All lawns have been fertilized. Grounds Foreman Cooper, Trustee Gardiner, Trustee Mirata, GSRMA and their legal team along with Surveyor Frank Lehmann met on March 4th and discussed the Redwood Valley Cemetery boundary lines. Mr. Lehmann will present a copy of the survey to the District when it is complete.

  8. Savings Bank of Mendocino County Signors

      Remove Rickey Iverson from the Savings Bank of Mendocino County bank accounts and add Carolyn Johnson.

      Trustee Erin Gardiner motioned to approve. Trustee Carol Connerton seconded the motion.

      The motion passed with the following vote:

  9. Update Stifel Investments accounts

    Add Office Manger Dana Kornegay to Stifel Investments as a Wealth Check Officer, allowing Kornegay to gain acess to account information.

    Trustee Erin Gardiner motioned to approve. Trustee Carol Connerton seconded the motion. 

    The motion passed with the following vote:

  10. Office Assistant Natalie Perry's salary

    Raise Natalie Perry's salary to $25.00 per hour.

    Trustee Erin Gardiner motioned to approve. Trustee Carol Connerton seconded the motion.

  11. Employee and Volunteer Recognition

    Discussion was held regarding the options for an employee recognition program.  The board asked Kornegay to ask other cemetery districts for a copy of their programs/policy.

  12. Trustees Discussions, Questions & Comments

      Trustee Gardiner is hoping to start doing cemetery walks in April or May.
