  1. Call to Order
    The meeting was called to order at 11:00 am by Chairman Jerry Buzzard.

  2. Public Comments

  3. Consent Agenda  
    1. Approval of Minutes - April 15,2025 Regular Monthly Board Meeting

    2. Approval of Warrants/Claims - April 2025


    Trustee Erin Gardiner motioned to approve. Trustee Gary Mirata seconded the motion.

  4. Correspondence
    1. Public Cemetery Alliance Rolling Hills Training Day - June 12 & 13 in Corning

      GSRMA via zoom District Board Member's Duties & District Liability - 10:00 am June 18th 

      Public Cemetery Alliance annual conference - July 31 & August 1 in Grass Valley

      GSRMA annual conference - October 9 & 10 in Corning

    2. Thank you post card from the Redwood Valley/Calpella and Ukiah Shamrock 4-H clubs for being a sponsor of Wreaths Across America

    3. VFW and American Legion are hosting a Memorial Day Ceremony, Monday, May 26, at noon at the flagpole.

  5. Office Manager's Monthly Report
    1. Financial statements presented for April 2025

    2. Draft budget presented for fiscal year 2025-2026 

    3. Cemetery logo

      The Board discussed the possibility of creating a cemetery logo. Trustee Johnson suggested reaching out to the local high school to see if students would be interested in contributing design ideas. The Trustees shared and explored various concepts during the discussion.

  6. Investment Committee Report 

    The Stifel investment reports for April 2025 were presented to the Board. As of the reporting period, the Stifel Endowment Account had a balance of $2,289,054, the Endowment Interest Account held $137,984, the Capital Projects Account had a balance of $801,575, and the General Fund Cash Account totaled $239,455.

  7. Grounds Foreman's Monthly Report
    1. Burials for month and year to date

      Grounds Foreman Cooper reported that year to date burials are 12 full and 30 ash for a total of 42 burials. 2024 year to date burials were 18 full and 28 ash for a total of 46 burials.

    2. Grounds maintenance

      Cooper reported that the District is currently working on replacing water lines. He also informed the Board that a student from the high school WorkAbility program is currently working with the District. Cooper requested permission to hire the student for a part-time, temporary position over the summer. The Board agreed to the request.

  8. June 30, 2024 audited financial statements

    David Farnsworth, CPA met with the Board via telephone and presented the fiscal year end June 30, 2024 audit report. There were no findings. The District accepted the audit report as presented.

    Trustee Gary Mirata motioned to approve. Trustee Erin Gardiner seconded the motion.

  9. CemSites Contract

    Kornegay sent the cemetery maps and Pontem database to CemSites. A discovery meeting with CemSites is scheduled for Thursday, May 29, 2025. Two payment options were presented: (1) pay half upfront and the remainder upon delivery of the software, or (2) a monthly payment plan of $725 for five years with no interest. The Trustees agreed to proceed with the no interest payment plan.   

    Trustee Erin Gardiner motioned to approve. Trustee Carol Connerton seconded the motion.

  10. Closed Session
    1. Closed Session pursuant to Government Code Section 54957 – Public Employee Performance Evaluation

      Grounds Foreman and Office Manager

      The Board entered closed session at 12:12 p.m. to conduct performance evaluations for the Grounds Foreman and the Office Manager. The Board returned to open session at 12:46 p.m. No reportable action was taken in closed session.

  11. Employee salaries 2024-2025 fiscal year

    The Board appointed a committee, consisting of Trustees Johnson and Gardiner, to review employee salaries for the 2024-2025 fiscal year.

    Chairman Jerry Buzzard motioned to approve. Trustee Carol Connerton seconded the motion.

    The motion passed with the following vote:

  12. Trustees Comments
    1. Cemetery walking tour - June 7th 

      The next cemetery walking tour is scheduled for June 7, 2025 at 9:00 a.m., beginning at the flagpole.

  13. Adjournment

    The meeting was adjourned at 12:47 p.m. 

    The regular meeting scheduled for June 17, 2025, will be cancelled. A special meeting may be held on June 24, 2025, if necessary. If no special meeting is needed, the next regular meeting will take place on August 19, 2025.
